Entourage
Metals (EMT-YSX-V) was
established in February 2011 to
focus on the acquisition,
exploration and discovery of mineral
deposits in the Superior Province of
North-western Ontario, Canada.
Entourage is in the process of
developing a portfolio of
underexplored, highly prospective
land packages on trend to producing
mines or identified mineral
deposits.
Along this trend,
one of mining’s oldest adages is
that if you want to find a new mine,
the best place to search is adjacent
to an existing one. Vancouver-based
Entourage Metals has followed
this concept by focusing their
attention in the regions adjacent to
one of Canada’s great producing gold
mines, Barrick Gold’s Hemlo Mine in
Northern Ontario, just above Lake
Superior near the town of Marathon.
The Hemlo mines have produced in
excess of 20 million ounces of gold
since their discovery in 1981.
Entourage’s
flagship project consists of the
“Hemlo Belt Properties”, comprised
of two separate sections; Rous Lake
and Toothpick. Two other claim
groups form the other high priority
projects which include Black Raven,
30 Km north of Hemlo, and the Benton
Property which lies on the western
extension of the Cadillac-Larder
Break. Consistent with their
company goal of acquiring, exploring
and discovering mineral deposits,
the company’s roster of properties
also includes claims on the Northern
Arm, Hemlo North, Valley Lake,
Toothpick East and Spruce Bay.
Infrastructure
around the Hemlo Belt Properties is
favourable, having excellent road
access and with close proximity to
rail, air and power. The town of
Marathon located nearby has mining
supplies, services and personnel
available.
The Hemlo Mining
Camp represented one of Canadian
mining’s most exciting stories in
the early 1980’s when a gold
exploration frenzy took place in the
region. Three different mines
ultimately entered production,
beginning with “Golden Giant” in
1985 with “David Bell” and
“Williams” following closely
afterwards. All three were united
to form Barrick Gold’s Hemlo Mine
and production is still presently
ongoing from the latter two mines.
As noted, production from the
combined Hemlo Mine has totalled
more than 20 million ounces of gold
to date.
Rous Lake is
located 8 Km to the west of the
Hemlo Mine while the “Toothpick
West” is further to the west and
southwest along the shore of nearby
Lake Superior. Geologically, the
Hemlo Belt Properties are located
along the Archaen Hemlo greenstone
trend. The Hemlo Gold Deposit
itself, which extends over a strike
length of 2.5 Km and plunges to the
west, is hosted by sedimentary rocks
and massive and fragmental, felsic
volcanic rocks of the Moose Lake
Volcanic Complex.
Despite the
overwhelming success at Hemlo Mine,
compared to other greenstone belts
globally, the company’s project area
has remained relatively
underexplored. This is primarily
due to two compounding issues; deep
glacial overburden cover and the
fact that 90% of the Hemlo deposit
lies beneath 500 meters. Company
geologists are confident that this
region has good potential to host
additional gold deposits along the
same structure as the currently
producing gold mines.
Entourage is
actively working to explore and
develop their properties and
presently have three concurrent
drill programs running. Assay
results are pending from the first
2,600m of drilling at the Toothpick
West property.
At Rous Lake, the
Phase 1 drilling program of 2,000m
was initiated in October 2011 with
specific targets identified through
Gravimetric and Soil Gas Hydrocarbon
(SGH) Surveys.
The company’s
other priority project where active
drilling is taking place is at Black
Raven where an initial phase program
of 2,000 meters covering up to ten
holes began in early October, 2011.
Black Raven, located to the north of
the Hemlo Mine, hosts multiple
high-grade gold occurrences over
some 68 square kilometers. Present
exploration is focused surrounding
the Super G prospect. In summer
2011 a surface sampling program
returned eight grab and channel
samples averaging 275.0 g/t Au with
returns ranging from 6.47 g/t Au up
to 846.4 g/t Au.
Entourage’s
latest acquisition, the 203 square
Km Benton Property, is located in
the Southwestern Abitibi in an area
known as the Swayze Greenstone
Belt. This region is the western
extension of the prolific
Cadillac-Larder Break. The Benton
property is on trend to 5 million
ounces of recently discovered gold
(Trelawney’s Cote Lake and Augen’s
Jerome). Timiskaming conglomerates
similar to those found at Timmins
and Kirkland Lake are represented on
the property. An extensive surface
program including the collection of
6,000 soil gas survey samples and a
ground gravity survey covering 11 km
of strike length commenced in
October 2011.
Entourage is led
by an experienced and knowledgeable
management team led by President
Jeff Sundar; VP Exploration John
Florek, P. Geo; CEO Adrian Fleming,
P. Geo; Chairman Robert McLeod, P.
Geo; and Senior Geologist John
LaBrecque, P. Geo.
As of October 20,
2011 Entourage had working capital
of $4,300,000 with 22.3 million
shares outstanding and 25.5 million
shares on a fully diluted basis.
An in-depth study
will be completed immediately
following a property visit which
will take place at the earliest
opportunity.
